About the Role
Join IronVale Resources as a Graduate Mining Engineer and kick-start your career at our flagship Pilbara East iron ore operation. This 18-month graduate program offers comprehensive exposure to modern mining operations through structured rotations across drill-and-blast, mine planning, and production teams. You'll work directly with experienced engineers and operators while contributing to real projects that impact our daily production of 2.5 million tonnes annually.
Reporting to Site Manager Pete Drummond, you'll be based at our Pilbara East site on a 2-weeks-on/1-week-off FIFO roster from Perth. This role suits engineering graduates seeking hands-on experience in a high-performing mining environment where safety, innovation, and operational excellence drive everything we do.
As IronVale transitions toward critical minerals with our upcoming Goldfields lithium project, you'll gain exposure to diverse mining methodologies and be positioned for exciting career progression opportunities across our expanding operations.
Key Responsibilities
Drill & Blast Rotation (6 months) - Support blast design and pattern optimization under supervision of senior blast engineers - Conduct pre-blast inspections and post-blast assessments - Assist with explosive inventory management and regulatory compliance - Participate in autonomous haulage integration planning around blast zones
Mine Planning Rotation (6 months) - Develop short-term production schedules using MineSched and Surpac software - Support grade control sampling programs and reconciliation analysis - Assist with pit optimization studies and waste dump design - Contribute to resource definition drilling programs
Production Engineering Rotation (6 months) - Monitor daily production KPIs and identify improvement opportunities - Support equipment performance analysis and maintenance planning - Participate in autonomous truck trial data analysis and optimization - Assist with new technology implementation and change management initiatives
Cross-functional Responsibilities - Maintain rigorous safety standards and contribute to our Zero Harm culture - Support environmental monitoring and compliance activities - Participate in Traditional Owner engagement and cultural heritage protocols - Contribute to graduate cohort projects and knowledge sharing sessions
What You'll Bring
Essential Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related engineering discipline - Australian work rights (citizenship or permanent residency) - Current drivers license and ability to obtain Heavy Vehicle License - Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and basic programming concepts - Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement - Physical fitness for mine site operations and FIFO lifestyle - Commitment to safety-first mindset and continuous learning
Highly Regarded - Vacation work or internship experience in mining or heavy industry - Familiarity with mining software (Surpac, MineSched, or similar) - Understanding of autonomous vehicle technology or digital mining concepts - Experience working with Indigenous communities or cultural awareness training - Leadership experience through university projects, sports, or community involvement
