About the Role
IronVale Resources is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our growing Sustainability & Environment team in Perth. As we expand our operations into critical minerals and advance our autonomous mining technologies, we need a dedicated professional to support environmental compliance and rehabilitation across our Pilbara iron ore operations and emerging Goldfields lithium project.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic 8-person environmental team, contributing to meaningful environmental outcomes while supporting Australia's transition to clean energy through responsible mining practices. You'll split your time between our modern Perth headquarters and regular site visits to our operations, gaining hands-on experience across diverse mining environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Environmental Monitoring: Conduct regular monitoring programs for air quality, water resources, noise, and biodiversity across our Pilbara East iron ore operation and Goldfields lithium project
- Compliance Reporting: Prepare and submit regulatory reports to DMIRS, EPA, and other agencies, ensuring adherence to environmental approval conditions and management plans
- Rehabilitation Support: Assist in designing and implementing progressive rehabilitation programs, including seed collection, revegetation trials, and closure planning activities
- Impact Assessment: Support environmental impact assessments for new mining areas and infrastructure, working closely with our Traditional Owner partners and external consultants
- Data Management: Maintain environmental databases, analyse trends, and prepare quarterly compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies
- Field Work: Conduct 6-8 site visits annually (FIFO basis), collecting samples, inspecting rehabilitation sites, and liaising with operations teams on environmental matters
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support community consultation processes and participate in Traditional Owner meetings regarding land access and cultural heritage
What You'll Bring
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related field
- Experience: 1-3 years experience in environmental consulting, government, or industry (graduate applications welcome)
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques, GIS software, and data analysis tools
- Field Capability: Comfortable working in remote mining environments, valid driver's licence, willingness to travel
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical reports and engaging with diverse stakeholders
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with operations teams, Traditional Owners, and regulatory agencies
- Values Alignment: Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and respectful engagement with Indigenous communities
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with mining industry environmental management - Knowledge of WA environmental legislation and approval processes - Familiarity with rehabilitation and closure planning
