Data Analyst — Autonomous Systems

Department: Technology & Innovation
Location: Perth, Western Australia
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Karen Whitfield, Chief Operating Officer

About the Role

IronVale Resources is at the forefront of mining innovation, and our autonomous haulage trial at Pilbara East is reshaping how we think about mine operations. We're seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our small but dynamic Technology & Innovation team and drive data-driven insights from this groundbreaking project.

Working directly with our Chief Operating Officer, Karen Whitfield, you'll be instrumental in analysing operational data from our autonomous truck fleet, helping us understand performance metrics, safety outcomes, and efficiency gains. This is a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in the mining sector while contributing to IronVale's reputation as an early adopter of transformative solutions.

You'll collaborate closely with our Site Manager Pete Drummond and his operations team at Pilbara East, translating complex datasets into actionable insights that inform our autonomous technology rollout strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse large datasets from autonomous haulage operations, including truck performance, route optimization, and productivity metrics
  • Develop and maintain dashboards tracking key performance indicators for the autonomous fleet trial
  • Create comprehensive reports on safety data, comparing autonomous vs. traditional haulage operations
  • Build predictive models to forecast equipment maintenance needs and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with site operations teams to understand data context and validate analytical findings
  • Support business case development for expanding autonomous technology across other IronVale sites
  • Present findings to senior leadership, including monthly briefings to the executive team
  • Work with external technology partners to ensure data integration and quality standards
  • Contribute to our sustainability reporting by analysing fuel consumption and emissions data from autonomous operations

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related analytical field
  • 1-3 years of experience working with large datasets, preferably in industrial or operational environments
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for data analysis and visualization
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
  • Strong statistical analysis skills and familiarity with predictive modelling techniques
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders
  • Interest in mining operations and autonomous technology (mining experience preferred but not essential)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where data insights directly impact operational decisions
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to occasionally visit mine sites (travel approximately 10% of time)

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary package of $75,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation
  • Annual performance bonus tied to project milestones and company performance
  • Professional development budget of $3,000 annually for courses, conferences, and certifications
  • Flexible working arrangements with hybrid office/remote options
  • Health and wellness benefits including private healthcare and fitness allowance
  • Opportunity to work on pioneering technology that's reshaping the mining industry
  • Clear career progression pathway as our autonomous technology program expands
  • Collaborative culture with direct access to senior leadership
  • Four weeks annual leave plus additional shutdown periods

To apply, please submit your CV along with a brief cover letter explaining your interest in autonomous mining technology and relevant analytical experience. Include examples of projects where you've worked with operational data or industrial datasets.
